Obiettivi formativi

Learn to use global geometrics methods for physical theories.
Be able to autonomously study and report research topics in the literature.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

At the end of the corse students should know covariant formalism for electromagnetism,
symplectic geometry and its applications to Hamiltonian mechanics.
Students should also understand and be able to use autonomously the basics of classical fiend theory and its Lagrangian formulation.

The course is made of 48 hours of lectures.

Oggetto:

During the course a list of exercises will be proposed about the topics discussed. Those exercises have to be solved by students during their studies.
The final exam consists of the discussion of the solutions of the exercises and of a seminar to present a paper about the topics discussed during lectures and concerted at the end of the course.
Students should show to be able to organise material in a concise, clear way and present it correctly.

In the beginning of the course participants and instructor will discuss the need of organizing additional tutorial classes to help participants to meet the required prerequisites.
